Three Quarterback’s Who Need To Perform Better
5 OctPhillip Rivers – Rivers so far this season hasn’t been overwhelmingly bad. He has thrown for three-hundred yards in three of four games so far this season. However, his quarterback rating is quite average and interception rating is quite high for a quarterback of his caliber. So far this season his quarterback rating is a very average 87.7. This could be attributed to the fact that he has been missing key receivers for the first part of the NFL season. However, there are no excuses for his six interceptions this early in the season. He has thrown almost half the amount of interceptions he threw last year in one-fourth the games. He hasn’t been terrible but he is a top-tier quarterback who is expected to play much better.
Sam Bradford – Bradford again hasn’t been awful; hell I’d be scared if my offensive line was as bad as St. Louis’ has been over the last month in the season. While not throwing that many interceptions; his completion rate has been pathetic (under 50%). The emphasis on the passing game has led the Rams to an 0-4 start. Bradford completed 60% of his passes in his rookie year, so a turnaround is definitely possible; but he definitely slumping in his sophomore season.
Jay Cutler – Cutler has been so bad this season after an impressive first game, that a Mike Martz run offense only passed the ball 17 times in a win versus the Panthers last week. Cutler just doesn’t seem to have the respect that other quarterbacks have among their teammates, and his toughness has to be questioned. He is playing with little heart and for a guy with such talent, he just doesn’t seem to care. I was a big Cutler fan until this year, and the Bears must be frustrated with Cutler’s bipolar performance.
